This year Perks fun fair opened their gates to Share a Dream for a mornings fun. A local family from Lismore in Co. Waterford was presented with a big bear from the owner of Perks fun fair Nora Perks.
More than 2,000 children from all over Ireland converged on Salthill on Sunday August 22 for a massive party to celebrate National Special Children's Day.
Organised by the well-known children's charity the Share a Dream Foundation, the occasion brought together some 600 sick and disabled children with their siblings and parents from every town in Ireland to celebrate life.
The event, which was free of charge for special children and their families, took place from 2pm to 5.30pm and involved a mega concert, face painting, bouncy castles, Army displays, pets corner, Scouts display, circus acts, air sea rescue display, fun fair rides at Perks theme park, barbecue, and goody bags.
The Share a Dream Foundation encouraged groups from all over the country working with special children to join them in spirit by organising an event in their own area to celebrate National Special Children's Day.
In conjunction with National Special Children's Day, the Share a Dream Foundation is organising a holiday camp for a week in Galway for 150 sick children and their families from all over Ireland.
